Overview

Trusted to secure, manage, and integrate data and drive innovation, PTS in conjunction with French architects, Oger International, ensured the new site could support the government and business’s digital agenda. The future-proof, secure facility embraces innovation beyond the design and build to become the region’s first LEED Platinum Data Centre facility.

Recognising PTS’s expertise in Data Centres, Workplace Technology, and Physical Security, the Moro hub team engaged PTS to lead the design from a technological viewpoint. The PTS team advised and influenced the construction of the facility to reflect essential technology requirements, carefully considering power, cooling, and cabling needs and the desired standards.

Highlights

  • State-of-the-art Workplace and Uptime Institute Tier 3 Data Centre facility
  • Full TVRA assessment, biometric controls, and control room
  • First LEED Platinum Data Centre facility in the Middle East

Summary

To secure the facility, PTS conducted a full Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessment to identify elements that could threaten the facility. From the report, PTS designed appropriate solutions to mitigate the risk. Physical security elements including guards, a control room, and biometric technologies project the site.

As notoriously large consumers on power, the Client was keen to make the site as sustainable as possible. The design team carefully considered how the facility could consume power and process waste material efficiently. Through intelligent design and excellent waste management and recycling policies, Moro Hub achieved LEED Platinum status. It is the first platinum-rated Data Centre facility in the Middle East. Although the facility currently runs on fossil fuels, the site has the infrastructure to switch to renewable sources at a later date.

In addition to sustainability credentials, the site also holds certifications confirming the reliability of the sit-making it an attractive investment opportunity. The Moro Hub facility holds two Uptime Tier 3 certificates for design and construction, and a PTS STARS Level 3+ Accreditation meaning the HUB is more than capable of supporting the Client’s ambitions of becoming a leader in the digital space.

As a future-proof, intelligently designed facility, the benefits go beyond supporting DEWA’s goals. The facility will play a key role in Dubai’s strategic objectives to become one of the smartest business hubs in the world. Dubai’s Crown Prince, HH Sheik Hamadan Mohammed, recognised the centre’s important role in sustaining the city’s reputation as a centre for innovation, visiting the facility in November 2018.
