Overview

As part of its Business Continuity Plan development, UBS purchased a redundant purpose-built Data Centre in Middlesex. PTS was subsequently appointed to conduct a Gap Analysis of the 130,000 sq.ft. site, which involved benchmarking the facility against the Clients’ standard design blueprint, assessing the Structured Cabling infrastructure and working with Arup Associates on M & E services.

Highlights

  • Technical workshops  review design aspects of the overall site
  • Provision of two evaluative documents-  A high-level Management Summary with overall benchmarking results
  • Roadmap to maximise the operational efficiency of the facility
  • RAG report with step-by-step recommendations

“PTS commenced the assignment by holding several technical workshops to review all design aspects of the overall site, the building and its services. Subject areas included power, IT infrastructure design, Structured Cabling, and physical and electronic security of the Datacentre.”

Summary

UBS was provided with two evaluative documents: a high-level Management Summary with overall benchmarking results and a road-map to maximise the operational efficiency of the facility, and a detailed engineering RAG report with step-by-step recommendations for each subject area.

The result of this technical review was a re-designed facility which better met the UBS’ day 1 and future requirements.
