PTS at the Battersea Canteen
On Tuesday 19th March, members of PTS’s Battersea Power Station Project team and other PTS staff headed on over to The Battersea Canteen to lend a hand in the local community Kitchen.
The PTS team helped local charity, Be Enriched to serve up a delicious three-course meal using a selection of donated fruits and vegetables.
On the menu was stuffed portobello mushrooms with a grated carrot salad, a leek spaghetti and a delicious Lemon Drizzle cake baked by our very own Reshmi Kashyap. The meal was very much enjoyed by those from the local Battersea community who often visit the canteen to catch up with friends and socialise with neighbours.
Be Enriched is a London youth and community charity set up in 2013. It aims to tackle inequalities in society and build social cohesion while developing skills in young people.
The Charity runs three South London Canteens located in, Battersea, Tooting and Elephant and Castle aimed at combating food waste and tackling loneliness through creating some delicious and nutritious dishes in an open, welcoming environment.
It was fantastic to have an opportunity to step out of our day-to-day jobs and despite limited kitchen experience get involved in such a great local initiative and meet new faces. We’d like to thank Be Enriched for having us and our Project Co-Ordinator, Ben Graham for organising.
